I. Training Objectives and Basic Specifications

1. Training Objectives

This major, meeting the needs of the booming international economy（especially Sino-African and the world’s Africa-related economics and business development）for new-type foreign-tradetalents as well as the growing demands of internationalstudents for international tradeeducation, aims to train professionals of international economics and trade characterized by high moral, intellectual, physical and aesthetical excellence. Graduates of the courses are to develop great competence in international communication and tradepractice, to grasp the basic knowledge of economics and management as well as the rudiments and practical skills ofinternational trade, and to possess international vision and pioneering spirit.

The expected objectives achieved by the students in this major 5 years later after graduation are as follows.

Objective 1, To have a good ideology and morality, professional ethics, Spirit of solidarity and cooperation, healthy physique, strong social responsibility, grand global vision, and scientific world view, and to serve social development consciously.

Objective 2, To have a solid foundation of economics, management,Chinese, and computer application knowledge so as to do the preliminary scientific research;

Objective 3, To have international vision and pioneering innovation capability, and to be able to use basic knowledge and skills of business management and international business operation in international economics and trade to do or participate related business or activities;

Objective 4, To be qualified to do international business, international management, import and export trade, marketing and so on in governments, institutes, and companies, especially good at the business in China-Africa economics and trade.

2. Graduation Requirements

In order to achievethe above objectives, graduates of this program are demanded of the following qualities regarding their knowledge and competence:

(1)Getting strong sense of social responsibility, professional ethics, Humanistic arts and Social Sciences;

(2)Being capable of solving problems in international economics, international trade, and market development by applying knowledge of mathematics, economics, management, and computer;

(3)Having a good command of the basic knowledge and skills that directly or indirectly related to international economics and trade, such as internet marketing, international logistics operation, E-commerce, database technology, business data analysis, and document making;

(4)Being familiar with China's principles, policies, and regulations in foreign economics and trade, customs and rules of international economics and trade, history and trend of China-Africa economic and trade development, and getting the basic cognition of African market;

(5)Students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Tai Wan are able to listen, speak, read, write, translate, and communicate in international business in English fluently, and foreign students are able to listen, speak, read, write, translate, and communicate in international business in Chinese, and the minimum requirement of Chinese language reaches HSK4 level;

(6)Having the basic skills to search literatures, data,any other information related to international economics and trade by modern IT technology, and being familiar with the frontier theories, current situations, and trends in this field;

(7)Keeping physical and mental health, developing good physical exercise and hygiene habits to achieve the sports qualification standard for college students

I. Duration

4 years with minimum 3 and maxim 6 years. If students want to take the graduation thesis and the professional practice in advance, the students have to obtain all the required credits (124credits) before application.
