I. About this program Designed for middle to senior level managers, the Zhejiang Normal University Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a general management degree. The program develops forward-thinking and responsible leaders. The MBA increases your competency as a manager, enabling you to evaluate the appropriateness of advice provided externally and internally, and to use that information to make decisions consistent with achieving sustainable outcomes for multiple stakeholders. Opportunities are provided to build on the core integrated courses by undertaking choice electives andSpecializations, and undertaking a research pathway.
II. Overview and Advantages at Zhejiang Normal University The main campus of Zhejiang Normal University (ZNU) is located at the cultural historical city of Jinhua in the central part of Zhejiang Province. The city links Shanghai and Hangzhou to the north, and Guangdong and Fujian provinces to the south. The university is next to a national scenic spot—the Double Dragon Cave, and covers a total area of more than 220 hectares with a total floor space of more than one million square meters. Its green and beautiful campus furnishes an ideal place for living, study and work. Plus its the only University that has the qualification to offer intensive MBA and IMBA education in the Central West of Zhejiang Province. Also, its located next to the world’s biggest commodity trading market of Yiwu so that students have the opportunity to experience this growing trends and enjoy the practical courses designed to help them investigating real life business issues and how to deal with Chinese businesses throughout the semesters. The historical evolution of Zhejiang Normal University can be traced back to Hangzhou Junior Teacher’s College, set up in 1956, and then evolved into “Hangzhou Teacher’s College” in 1958. In 1962, both Zhejiang Education College and Zhejiang Physical Education College were merged to form Zhejiang Teacher’s College, which was moved to Jinhua in 1965. In 1980, the college was enlisted as a key provincial institution of higher learning. In 1985, the college acquired its university status as Zhejiang Normal University. Later on, in 2000, 2001, and 2004, three more schools merged into ZNU, i.e. Zhejiang Financial School, Zhejiang School of Preschool-Teacher Education and Jinhua Railway Engineering School respectively.
III. Overview and Advantages at the College of Economics and Management The College offers six full-time undergraduate programs in Business Administration, Marketing, E-commerce, Financial Management, Accounting, and International Economy and Trade. Among them, Financial Management and Business Administration are the key provincial majors under construction, and Accounting is a University feature major. There are two postgraduate programs in Business Administration and Regional Economics and one MBA program. The College has one state-level experiment teaching center--the E-commerce Experiment Teaching Center affiliated with the Liberal Arts Comprehensive Experiment Teaching Center. The College has signed agreements with over 50 companies for student internships. The College’s students are known to have “broad knowledge, a solid foundation and practical skills,” and its graduates have been well received by their employers. Postgraduates and undergraduates have made remarkable achievements repeatedly in national and provincial competitions like the Challenge Cup of Entrepreneurial Design Competition, the Finance and Accounting Informatization Competition and E-commerce Competition. The first-time employment rate of graduates remains above 90% in successive years. The College strives to train first-class economics and managerial professionals for regional economic prosperity and the innovative development of enterprises.
IV. Teaching Resources and Academic Research The College has a strong research capacity with a key provincial discipline (Regional Economics) and a key University discipline (Business Administration). Five key University-sponsored research institutes are the Institute of Regional Economics, the Institute of Business Administration, the Center for Commerce and Marketing of Central Zhejiang Province, the Institute of Strategic Urban Development in Central Zhejiang, and the Center for Industrial Economics Research. There are also the Research Site of Zhejiang Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Bureau in Central Zhejiang Province and the Institute of Jinhua Local Businessmen under the Zhejiang Businessmen Research Center. The College’s faculty members have completed 9 state-level projects and 55 provincial-level projects and have published 45 academic books, as well as more than 100 academic papers. Many of their scientific achievements have been valued and appreciated by state and provincial leaders and have won several Excellent Scientific Achievements awards from the Ministry of Education and Zhejiang Provincial government. The college has a strong teaching team that includes professors from leading business schools from the globe. Most of them are fluent in English. Prof. Dr. Frank Hartmann from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, the Netherlands, along with his research area of Accounting and management control; Prof. Wei Ciao Huang from School of Economics, West Michigan State University, USA, along with his research area of Managerial Economics; Dr. Fu Pingping from the University of Hong Kong, along with her research areas of Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management. Besides, there are over 20 lecturers in the college who has the ability of teaching in English, most of them have engaged in advanced studies and research overseas in English speaking countries.
