Course Introduction

The program combines English language skills training with teaching of professional knowledge. Over 90% of the courses are delivered in English.
The Department offers a wide range of courses: news gathering, news writing, editing, translation, photography, broadcasting, mass communication theories, international communication, media ethics and law, etc. A large number of elective courses, also taught in English, are available to students interested in international relations, economics, literature, arts, sociology, psychology, management, and so on. The Department is keen to help its students find temporary work placements or summer internships at Xinhua News Agency, China Daily, China Central Television, China Radio International and other leading news organizations in the country to put into practice what they have learned in class. Moreover, the BFSU International Forum on Journalism & Communication is a regular occasion for the students to meet with media practitioners and share with them their views on subjects ranging from international politics, economics, to culture.
