Zhejiang University is a national key university directly under the administration of Ministry of Education and among of the first batch of 'double first-class' universities in China. Nearly one hundred undergraduate majors are offered by colleges and departments affiliated to the seven faculties of science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, information technology, humanities and social sciences. With program length of 4-6 academic years, undergraduate programs are instructed in Chinese generally, while some English-taught programs are also available. Graduates fulfilling all the degree requirements will be awarded the bachelor’s degree.

Eligibility
1.General Requirements
1.1Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and valid foreign passport holders.
1.2 Under the age of 25. Applicants must have graduated from high school (Those who provide pre-graduation certificate or student status certificate at application MUST provide, the graduation certificate no later than registration).
1.3 With proper moral conduct, in good health with no infectious disease or any physical or mental diseases that may affect the normal study.
2.Requirements on Citizenship Requirements of the regulations set in the Document No. 12 (2020) of Ministry of Education of the PRC should be met.
2.1 Applicants who have given up their original Chinese citizenship (including residents in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan)and become foreign citizens, must accquire foreign citizenship before April 30, 2020, and must have lived abroad more than 2 years from April 30, 2020 to April 30, 2024 (more than 9 months of residence abroad per year can be considered as one year, taking entry and exit stamps as evidence).
2.2 If the applicant has acquired foreign citizenship automatically at the time of birth in a foreign country, whose parents were both Chinese citizens, or one of the parents was a Chinese citizen, parent’s (with Chinese citizenship) permanent resident in foreign country should be obtained prior to the birth of the applicant. Applicants must have lived abroad more than 2 years from April 30, 2020 to April 30, 2024 (more than 9 months of residence abroad per year can be considered as one year, taking entry and exit stamps as evidence). Note: If the applicant is concluded to have Chinese citizenship by the Chinese public security department after application, admission or enrollment, the applicant will be disqualified from application, admission or enrollment or withdrawal from school will be required.
3. Language Proficiency Requirements
3.1. Applicants for Chinese-taught programs must have HSK certificate. Specific HSK requirements could be found in the catalog of Chinese-taught undergraduate programs. Applicants whose compulsory courses were taught in Chinese during secondary education (junior and senior high school) can be exempt from submitting HSK certificate.
3.2. There are no Chinese language proficiency requirements for the applicants of English-taught programs. If applicants’ native language is not English, they should provide score report of English language test (e.g. TOEFL/IELTS/OTHER).

Master's Degree Program
Eligibility
General Requirements
Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and valid foreign passport holders.
1.2 Under the age of 35 (Age limit is flexible for healthy applicants with certain work experience and high academic ability). Applicants must be Bachelor’s degree holders (Those who provide pre-graduation certificate or student status certificate at application MUST provide Bachelor's degree diploma no later than registration.)
1.3 With proper moral conduct, in good health with no infectious disease or any physical or mental disease that may affect the normal study.
2.Requirements on Citizenship
2.1 Applicants who have given up their original Chinese citizenship (including residents in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) and become foreign citizens shall provide the documents certifying the cancellation of Chinese citizenship and household registration, according to the policy of the Ministry of Education of the PRC.
2.2 If the applicant has acquired foreign citizenship automatically at the time of birth in a foreign country, whose parents were both Chinese citizens, or one of the parents was a Chinese citizen,parent’s (with Chinese citizenship) permanent resident in foreign country should be obtained prior to the birth of the applicant.
Note: If the applicant is concluded to have Chinese citizenship by the Chinese public security department after application, admission or enrollment, the applicant will be disqualified from application, admission or enrollment or withdrawal from school will be required.

Chinese Language & Culture Programs
General Information
Each semester, the International College organizes Chinese language classes at elementary, intermediate and advanced levels. The spring semester starts from late February to early July. The autumn semester starts from early September to late January.
Students are to be placed in classes that suit them best by taking a Chinese proficiency test. A semester usually consists of 17 or 18 weeks with 18 class hours of language courses per week. Besides, electives are offered for students to choose one or two courses according to the students’ interests and Chinese capacity. Upon completion of the language course, students who meet the assessment requirements will be issued with a certificate of completion from Zhejiang University.
In addition to the coursework, each semester, the International College would also arranges cultural visits for students of Chinese language and culture program. Students can also participate in various student clubs according to their own interests, interact and grow together with Chinese students, and experience a vibrant campus life.
Course Structure
Elementary Class: (Level 1-2)
Teaching Target: For students who have no language foundation, or who only have basic language communication skills.
Teaching Objectives: Through teaching, students develop an interest in language, build a solid language foundation, and acquire basic language skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Curriculum:
Compulsory courses: 18 class hours per week, including 10 hours of intensive reading, 4 hours of speaking and 4 hours of listening.
Elective courses: 2-4 class hours per week, including Knowledge of Chinese characters, Chinese story reading, etc.
Intermediate Class (Level 3-5)
Teaching Target: For students who already have a certain language foundation and are able to communicate in general spoken Chinese.
Teaching Objective: To quickly improve learners' language skills through teaching, emphasizing the teaching of reading and writing skills, thus expanding learners' learning horizons and range of interests, and focusing on developing students' reading and writing skills.
Curriculum:
Compulsory courses:18 class hours per week, including 8 hours of intensive reading, 4 hours of speaking, 4 hours of reading, and 2 hours of writing.
Elective courses: 2-4 class hours per week, including Chinese Movies & TV Dramas, Practical Chinese Writing, HSK test tutoring, etc.
Advanced Class (Level 6-7)
Teaching Target: For students with higher language level.
Teaching Objective: To develop learners' comprehensive language quality through teaching, combining language teaching with cultural teaching, general language teaching with special-purpose language teaching, so that learners can acquire certain cross-cultural communication skills while gaining an in-depth understanding of traditional Chinese culture and contemporary China.
Curriculum:
Compulsory courses: 18 class hours per week, including 8 hours of intensive reading, 4 hours of speaking, 4 hours of reading, and 2 hours of writing.
Elective classes: 2-4 hours per week, including Approaching Contemporary China,Stories about China, Ancient Chinese, etc. Note:The actual offering of elective courses and lecture series is subject to changes, varying from semester to semester.
